The autonomous municipality of Caguas is inviting you to the opening of a new exhibition at the Museo de Arte de Caguas. The opening is June 6th at 7:00 p.m. in the Temporary Exhibition Hall (Sala de Exposiciones Temporales).
The new exhibition, from the artist Samuel Toro Rosa, is entitled "America is not at war. The Marine Corps is at war; America is at the mall." Samuel was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He first studied pre-medicine at the University of Puerto Rico in Mayagüez before switching to art. He then completed an art studio program in the Escuela de Artes Plásticas. He recently finished his MFA from Hunter College in New York, New York. He now works and resides in New York.
Manuel Alvarez Lezama, Art Critic, had this to say about Samuel:
"I'm excited as an art critic (lover, by the way, all possibilities within abstraction) to see how the painter Samuel Rosa Toro presents a group of works as both serious and attractive. This demonstrates imagination and professionalism to create interesting geometric compositions, where color and line are approaching poetry. "
