Dia de Reyes

¡Que vive los Reyes! The Epiphany is still a very special day in Casa Don Dees with one young'un still under 5, so our annual trip to the back yard to collect some grass still holds its magic. However, because we tend to avoid the oft mad-house crowds that can take over, we've never enjoyed participating in the annual Governor's Three King's Day celebration.

Several years back the celebration was moved from El Morro to its location for this year's celebration, el Parque Luis Muñoz Rivera. Next Sunday, January 6th, 2008, los Reyes, will visit Old San Juan starting at 10:00 a.m. in the morning. Besides the annual gifting by the Kings, I think (?), there will be plenty of activities to enjoy.

First, providing musical entertainment at the conclusion of the event 4:00 p.m., the artists invited include Zorro Viejo (Old Zorro or Old Fox, isn't that a little lame for a band name...), GrupoManía, and Alexis and Fido (here boy). In addition, there will be a Bethlehem recreation, machines, inflatibles, traditional games, a reading corner, games between families (no weapons allowed), and exhibitions. Across the street at Escambrón Beach there will games in the sand. And as always there will be kiosk with typical food.

Besides parking in Escambrón Beach, there is only street side parking available around the park, so good luck if you're heading down there, I think I'll just watch it on the live transmission on TuTV on channel 6.
