An evening for photojournalism in Universidad Sagrado Corazon

by Dirck HalsteadIn commemoration of its eight anniversary, the Center for Free Press (CLP, its initials in Spanish) in Puerto Rico, invites everyone on November 15th to participate in an evening to celebrate photojournalism. The evening will begin with the opening of the exposition "Sin Palabras" at 6:00 p.m. in the Sala de Arte de in the Edificio Barat Sur. The exhibition is organized by the Asociación de Fotoperiodistas de Puerto Rico. The exposition includes photographs from local photojournalists during the period of May 2006 until May 2007. As a momemto of the exposition, the Center will be giving away to all attendees a copy of their newest publication, "Memorias 2006", which collects the work of the Center from the previous year.

Following the opening of the exposition, at 7:00 p.m., the Center will sponsor "Multimedia: la nueva frontera del fotoperiodismo" by Dirck Halstead, Editor and Publisher of "The Digital Journalist". Halstead is an accomplished and renowned photojournalist who has received many distinctions, including the Robert Capa Gold Medal and The Medal of Honor for Distinguished Service in Photojournalism. Halstead is also the founder of the "Platypus Workshop", which has become the most famous boot camp in the world for still photographers who want to make the jump to High Definition Video production. His presentation will touch on the rise of video-journalists and the ongoing transformation of multimedia and the Internet.
