4 de Julio

Oooohhh AaaahhhhIn unusual style and pomp, the Mayor Jorge A. Santini Padilla is delighted to invite everyone to a celebration of the "231 Aniversaio de la Declaración de la Independencia de los Estados Unidos". That is as long as you are a bleeding heart, in the Matrix, and a Rossello supporter (but more on that later...)

Tomorrow, Wednesday July 4th, Old San Juan will be celebrating the Independence Day of the Unites States of America. The festivities start at 11:00 a.m. in Plaza Colón of Old San Juan. At 2:00 p.m. there will be a parade and at 4:00 p.m. they will conduct the "Actos Protocolarios", although I'm not really sure what those acts are, but I'm sure it involves someone screaming into a microphone, a lot of vain posturing, and then everyone clapping and looking at each other proudly. As I mentioned before, I'm not really sure we understand the true essence of the 4th of July here in Puerto Rico, we are close, we just need to eliminate the politicians. No seriously, let's eliminate the politicians. Bar rum pumph.

The grand closing will include performances by Chevy, Ford, Toyota, Miguelito, Parranderos de Loíza, Plenéalo, Jowell & Randy, and wait for it (you know you want them, you know you can't get enough of them, yes our favorite group of losers) El Show de Objetivo Fama. You know for my money no show is complete with those losers on the ticket.

There will also be fireworks (you see that got that right, and if I know my Old San Juan scene, plenty of par-tay-ing), kiosks, inflatables (for after the par-tay, if you know what I mean), and you guessed it the inevitable mucho más.
