Agrópolis - La Feria del Pais

Yesterday, the country fair kicked off in the Parque Luis Muñoz Marin in Hato Rey. Now in its fifth year, the Agrópolis celebrates the best of Puerto Rican agriculture. The fair will run from Thursday May 24th through Monday May 28th. As in previous editions, the Plaza de Mercado is the centerpiece and principal attraction of the event. This year the plaza will include over 30 vendors. The plaza, which temporarily becomes the largest in Puerto Rico, will be held in a circular tenet at the entrance to the fair.

Among the other offerings, the fair will also include the Fifth Agrópolis Trovadores Cup, which will be held on Saturday the 26th and Sunday the 27th. In addition there will be:

  • exhibitions of agroentrepreneurs
  • personalities, such as Luisito Vigoreaux y el Chef Campis; who will be preparing some of their favorite recipes
  • a small petting zoo
  • 10 restaurants with typical Puerto Rican food
  • and an exhibition of orchids.
There will also be a Paso Fino competition, an exhibition rodeo for children, and workshops with specialists from the Extension Service of the Department of Agriculture. In addition, for the first time, there will be an exotic bird exhibition and a horse auction in benefit of the San Jorge Children Research Foundation y la Asociación Diabética Pediátrica.

Finally, the event will feature a variety of performances by local artists. The schedule for the show times is as follows:
