Retrasa su apertura La Concha

The Hotel Renaissance La Concha in Condado will not start operation in the summer, as previously announced. Now the new opening date is September 15th. While the hotel will not open until September, they will start accepting reservations for the new date from the Marriott International web site.

According to Luis Méndez, director of Sales and Marketing for International Hospitality Associates, the company in charge of remodeling the old hotels Vanderbilt and La Concha, the main reason for the delay is the remodeling work on La Concha have not finished. In addition, they have not finished the parking garage where they are developing the condohotel La Concha Tower. The remodeling effort is expected to cost some $250 million dollars, while the condohotel is expected to cost $76 million dollars.

The hotel will feature 248 rooms in the historic structure, and will be classified in the category of four (4) stars. In addition the hotel will have three (3) restaurants, one Italian and two of seafood. There will also be a beach club, a casino of 14,000 square feet, 4,700 square feet of commercial space, and 15,000 square feet for activities and meeting.

La Concha Tower will start operations at the end of 2008 and will feature 235 apartments. The apartments will have 680 square feet each, and will range in cost from $440,000 and $576,000.
