3er Simposio de Espiritualidad y Salud

The Asociación Puertorriqueña de Psiquiatras de Niños y Adolescentes is holding, once again, the Symposium on Spirituality and Health. The symposium will take place in the Teatro, Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico, Recinto Metropolitano, and will be held from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM.

Dr Allan M. Josephson is the specialist invited speaker, who will present on a variety of themes, but will open the symposium with "An Overview of Religion, Spirituality and Worldview in Clinical Psychiatry". Dr. Josephson is the director of the children's program at the Psychiatry Department of the Louisville University School of Medicine. The speaker is the author of the book, "Spirituality: Child and Adolescent Clinics of North America".

In addition to Dr. Josephson, the symposium will also include presentations by Blanca N. Ralat, RN, Dr. Richard F. Camino, and Dr. Juan Bek. Some of the subjects they will discuss are religion for families facing illness, the impact of spirituality on the community, and the challenges of the relationship between religion and clinicians.

According to experts on this topic, the benefits of spirituality are:

  • Development of strong relationships
  • Forgiving and reconciling with people
  • Assuming personal responsibility
  • Establishing altruistic goals in your life
