Fourth Season of Objetivo Fama

Objetivo Fama Puerto RicoThree Puerto Ricans were selected to participate in the fourth edition of "Objetivo Fama" (OF4)., which is slated to begin in February 11th, 2007. Unless you live on the moon, you probably already know that OF4 singing talent contest loosely inspired by American Idol and the Spanish Operación Triunfo. Twenty or so contestants are "bunkered" in a studio/house where they will live together for several months while participating in a weekly show where one of them is eliminated. The winner of the show gets a record deal from Univision Records.

The three lucky, wanna-be stars, are Juan Vélez, Víctor Santiago y Lizmarie Goldilla. The group of twenty was officially presented to the media on Monday the 5th as they entered their "Casa Estudio" to begin the competition. This Saturday, the 11th, the program will celebrate the first gala from the Centro de Bellas Artes de Guaynabo. The gala will be shown "live" on Univision starting at 8:30 pm.

This years judges will be Olga Tañon, Fernando Allende, Roberto Sueiro, and via satellite from New York, Hilda Ramos. Yuri, the Mexican singer, will host the competition again this year.

By the Numbers

There are 20 competitors in OF4. Eleven are women and nine are men. Ten of the competitors have Mexican origin, making it the country with the most representation. Of the other seventeen contestants, four come from New York and Los Angeles; two from San Antonio and San Francisco; and one each from Chicago, El Paso, Miami, Orlando, and Fresno.
